Recently, the 2019 Sydney Design Awards ceremony was held at the Ovolo Woollooloo, Finger Wharf Ulumlu Bay Hotel in Sydney, Australia.

 

 

The famous Woolloomooloo Finger Wharf, formerly known as the century old cargo terminal, is the main export port of Sydney wool. It was once the landing place for foreign immigrants to arrive in Sydney, and also one of the departure places for local troops during the World War.

 

 

 

 

 

The current Woolloomooloo Ulumuru Bay Finger Wharf has been renovated and transformed into a modern commercial body integrating bars, restaurants, hotels, yacht docks and retail, which is more young, fashionable and dynamic.

 

 

 

 

Finger Wharf is the largest existing wooden building in the world, preserving the historical and cultural heritage of the old building, activating the vitality of the old pier, and radiating new spiritual charm. The history of the ancient dock, the panoramic view of Sydney Harbor and the style of Fashion design are perfectly integrated.

 

 

The renovation of the hotel breaks through the huge central spine structure of the atrium of the old building's large warehouse, creating a connecting link, breaking down the space into many small areas, creating a more private environment, making it more artistic and visually rich.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The selection of the venue for the award ceremony is in line with the designer's bold, interesting, unconventional, and curious personality. It is a place where trendy thinking collides and retro history is rejuvenated with whimsical ideas in time and space.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Designers from around the world gather on-site, and as an internationally influential design award, the Sydney Design Awards recognize and reward outstanding designers and teams in the international design field.

 

 

 

 

 

 

The award list was officially announced on site, and PLD's two design works, Xiamen Marriott Hotel&Conference Centre and Courtyard By Marriott, Shenzhen Northwest, respectively won the Gold and Silver Interior Design Awards under the International Hospitality category at the 2019 Sydney Design Awards.
